I started painting
in watercolor, but switched to oils when I began plein air painting,
as I found them to be more forgiving & workable outdoors.
My husband also enjoys outdoor painting, so it's been a pleasure
painting along the coast together. We have taken annual painting
trips to Monhegan, Acadia and Stonington, as well as Provence,
France. There we had an opportunity to paint the lavender fields
of Bonneaux & the Mediterranean coast in Cassis.
I most enjoy painting
quintessential Maine scenes. I find that painting outdoors breathes
life into my work. Being out in the Maine sea air, taking in
all the sounds & smells of our surroundings - and Mother
Nature - is about as close to perfection and as inspirational
as it gets.
I exhibit at Saltwater
Artists Gallery, 3056 Bristol Road, New Harbor (just before Pemaquid
Lighthouse); Meetinghouse Arts Gallery, 40 Main Street, Freeport;
Nickels-Sortwell Museum, 121 Main Street, Wiscasset; as well
as Greenier Gallery
